Car ends up on its roof after hitting a streetlight in Nokia, knocking the pole down
A car on Tottijärventie in Nokia rolled onto its roof after striking a streetlight, bringing the pole down. The driver freed himself before rescue crews arrived, and EMS checked his condition on site.
"The driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons," Tamperelainen reports. The accident occurred on Tottijärventie in Nokia just before 6 pm on Wednesday, with the car ending up on its roof after hitting a streetlight and knocking it down. The driver managed to free himself before rescue crews arrived, and EMS checked his condition on site.
Tamperelainen notes that the light pole's clearance is such that passenger cars and vans can pass underneath, but the height may be too low for heavy vehicles. The rescue service said a contractor is expected on site, and the unit is directing traffic while work is arranged. The exact location is about 1.5 kilometres before the intersection with Highway 12.
