Cooking Smoke Triggers Alarm and Brief Hallway Evacuation in Hervanta Student Apartment
A smoke alarm in a Hervanta student flat triggered a brief hallway evacuation on Thursday morning; firefighters found no active fire and said cooking smoke set off the detector.
Residents briefly evacuated a hallway after a smoke alarm sounded in a Hervanta student apartment on Thursday morning.
The rescue department, Tamperelainen reports, received a building fire call to Opiskelijankatu and dispatched one unit to check the scene. Crews detected a faint smell of smoke in the stairwell. They found no active fire inside the flat and concluded the alarm had been triggered by cooking smoke rather than flames.
