Eveliina Salonen builds nine-throw lead at Disc Golf World Championships in Michigan
Eveliina Salonen holds a nine-throw lead after an eight-under-par fourth round at the Disc Golf World Championships in Michigan, putting her on course for a second world title.
With a nine-throw lead, Eveliina Salonen is poised for a second world title after building a commanding lead at the Disc Golf World Championships in Michigan, Tamperelainen reports.
She has led since the second round and shot an eight-under-par fourth round on Saturday; only Silva Saarinen posted a better day.
Her powerful drives repeatedly created separation from the field. On hole 17 she flung a remarkable shot over the trees to reach putt range; Yle commentator Julius Sorjonen called it 'a long throw' and praised it as an 'ice-cold whip.'
Salonen missed the first putt but still recorded a birdie, finishing the round with nine birdies in total.
Canada's Rebecca Donia and the United States' Missy Gannon trail by nine throws as the final round starts at 16:00.
