Yle reports that on Friday the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department received multiple calls about a stretch submerged beneath the Highway 3 bridges in Pirkkala. A large pool made Palmrothintie impassable; some motorists tried to bypass the water by walking their vehicles along sidewalks or by taking alternative routes. Rescue crews informed the municipality of Pirkkala, which handles road maintenance, saying the section often collects excessive water during heavy downpours. The flooding follows a July downpour that prompted nearly 100 damage reports in Tampere, highlighting how prone the area is to problems during intense rain the July downpour.
