Kangasala tourism revenue edges up to €16.9 million in 2025, supporting 88 person‑years of employment
Kangasala's direct tourism revenue rose 1.8% to €16.9 million in 2025, supporting 88 person‑years of employment, Visitory Oy's study finds.
Kangasala's direct tourism revenue reached €16.9 million in 2025, a 1.8% increase on 2024, supporting 88 person‑years of employment — eight more than the year before — according to Visitory Oy's 2025 tourism revenue and employment study, which covered more than 50 regions across Finland.
Most of the town's tourism income still comes from domestic visitors, making the modest growth notable amid a generally weak year for domestic travel nationwide.
Maria Eskelinen, a tourism specialist at Visit Kangasala, said the town has now slightly exceeded its 2022 level. "It is encouraging that Kangasala's tourism revenue has developed positively. Most of Kangasala's tourism comes from domestic visitors, so the result is very good given the challenging times," she said.
Eskelinen pointed to new local business activity as part of the growth, citing the Travel and Wellness Centre Lepola in Kuhmalahti and a growing partnership network. "More and more local businesses now see tourists as an important customer group. Tourism benefits do not reach the area without active companies," she added.
The Visitory study found developments in 2025 were regionally mixed. Domestic tourism remained subdued in many areas, while international visitors boosted revenues particularly in Lapland and supported growth in several other regions. Employment gains often lagged revenue, the researchers said, with some businesses maintaining turnover using fewer staff or temporary labour.
Visitory Oy, a company specialising in tourism data and analysis, produced the research. The findings give local authorities and businesses a snapshot of how shifts in domestic and international demand are shaping jobs and income at the municipal level.
