Kellie Harrington headlines star-studded Tammer Tournament lineup
Two-time Olympic champion Kellie Harrington will headline the Tammer Tournament at Pyynikki sports hall in Tampere from 30 October to 1 November.
Organisers say unusually strong international demand forced them to limit entries; organiser Anna Laukkanen said they had to turn away some applicants because interest exceeded the event's capacity.
The card includes Finnish standouts Pihla Kaivo-oja, who won European Championship silver in the 54 kg class, and Ismail Umar, who took bronze in the men’s 65 kg category at the European Championships in Sofia. Vilma Viitanen returns to the ring at 57 kg. She is chasing her Olympic dream after a multi-year break.
The tournament draws more than 90 boxers from 12 countries, with entrants from Brazil, Australia and India among them. Tamperelainen reported the lineup.
