Koponen Wins Gold at Tampere 48kg
Koponen wins gold in the women's 48-kilogram weightlifting class at the Tampere SM championships over the weekend, according to Aamulehti. Other Pyrintö lifters also collect medals during the event at Pyynikin Palloiluhalli.
In the men's 60-kilogram class, Juho Reinvall takes bronze in the snatch, the jerk, and the total. Emma Laukkarinen earns bronze in the women's 77-kilogram jerk. In the 71-kilogram men's, Eetu Kumpulainen takes silver in snatch, jerk, and total. Patrik Ahtiainen wins bronze in snatch 65 kg.
Saturday's highlight is Janette Ylisoini in the women's 77 kg class, dominating with a 110 kg snatch and a 131 kg jerk; her 110 kg snatch was within two kilos of the best in the jerk. In the men's 88-kilogram class, Mikael Kouhia lifts 114 kg on his second attempt to take bronze, and also earns bronze in jerk and total. Juulia Ojanen earns bronze in the jerk in the women's 63 kg, while Joel Holappa takes bronze in the snatch in the men's 79 kg. Sunday features Manuel Cavrag taking silver in the 94 kg jerk after not recording a snatch. In the 110 kg and over category, Eliel Jännes wins silver in the snatch (134 kg); he takes bronze in the jerk and silver in the total, while Horas Pop earns bronze in the total with 278 kg. The Tuovinen brothers Matias and Lauri perform well, with Matias taking silver in the snatch, gold in the jerk, and silver in the total, and Lauri taking bronze in all three lifts. The 2027 SMs are scheduled for Rovaniemi. Update: Emma Laukkarinen's medal came from the jerk, not the snatch; 110 kg and over 110 kg were separate weight classes, according to Aamulehti.
