Lieto leaves Manse PP for Kouvolan Pallonlyöjät

Elmeri Lieto's contract with Manse PP is terminated and he signs with Kouvolan Pallonlyöjät through 2027, Aamulehti writes. The clubs announced the move in a joint statement, saying the decision was made in mutual understanding and that Lieto's role at Manse would have been smaller than expected. The paper notes that the move aims to place him in a setting where his profile can be used more effectively.

Lieto, 26, joined Manse PP in autumn 2023 after arriving from Joensuun Maila. Kouvolan Pallonlyöjät reported the deal to 2027, and Lieto said he is excited to join a team at Kouvola's level, noting that the city's community and Koplan's coaching staff fit him well. He adds that the environment should suit his development.

Last autumn Lieto's role on the championship-winning Manse PP squad was limited, and he spent part of the playoffs outside the lineup. The Seinäjoen Maila-Jussit alumnus has been selected four times for the Itä–Länsi (East-West) game and joined Manse PP from Joensuun Maila in 2023. It was reported in December 2024 that he signed a long-term extension with the Tampere-based club through 2028.
