Man Fires Firework at Police From Tampere Balcony
The emergency dispatch center received several reports on Wednesday of a man behaving incoherently in Tampere's Härmälä district, according to Aamulehti.
The Central Finland Police said officers were dispatched early Wednesday to a building in Härmälä after several reports of the man's incoherent behavior, with witnesses noting a loud bang in the area. When police arrived, the man threw a firework from a balcony toward them, and authorities suspect he lit a smoke grenade inside an apartment, causing heavy smoke and forcing the police to use force to gain entry. The man was arrested at the scene. The police suspect him of violent resistance against an official and endangering others, offenses that can carry a fine or up to two years in prison.
According to YLE, fire brigade units were dispatched to respond to the heavy smoke inside the apartment.
