Miljoonasade marks 40th anniversary with theatrical autumn tour — Tampere on October 17

Tamperelainen reports that Miljoonasade is marking its 40th year with an autumn tour and will play Tampere on October 17.

Tampere-born singer Heikki Salo, 68, a longtime Pispala resident, said the year began with a lively kickoff at Tavara-asema on January 10. "Miljoonasade is nowadays a pretty fun band live. We put on a show, keep verbal contact with the audience and don’t just stand and play," he said.

Salo described the band as musically restless and hard to pin to a single genre. He recalled stunt concerts — underwater and in a hot air balloon — and noted fire remains the only classical element they have yet to try.

He reflected on how the music business has shifted since the 1980s and called "singing culture" a vast, shifting sea. Despite the changes, he said, it has been gratifying that the band has endured and continues to reach listeners with hits such as Lapsuuden sankarille and Marraskuu.
