Parkano Tops Pirkanmaa in Clothing Donations Per Capita
Parkano leads Pirkanmaa in per-capita clothing donations to UFF in 2025, while Tampere accounts for the largest share of the region's total donations.
"The most enthusiastic recyclers in Pirkanmaa were found in Parkano," Tamperelainen reports. Nationwide, Finns donated over 12 million kilograms of used clothing to UFF's collection in 2025, about 100,000 kilograms more than in 2024, averaging 2.2 kilograms per person. Pirkanmaa donated 2.0 kilograms per resident, with Parkano leading the region at 4.1 kilograms per person and ranking tenth nationwide.
In Pirkanmaa, the total donated was almost 1,074,900 kilograms, and Tampere accounted for the largest share, over 383,100 kilograms, up more than 9,100 kilograms from 2024. Juupajoki saw the biggest year-on-year growth in 2025, with notable gains also in Sastamala and Valkeakoskella.
UFF's network serves 280 municipalities with over 1,630 collection points, and its stores also accept donations. The organization prioritizes reuse: usable items are sorted for sale or use, while unusable materials become raw material; only completely unusable material goes to energy recovery. In 2025, the foundation supported 38 development projects in Africa and Asia.
