Patria to Produce Ukrainian General Cherry Drones in Finland
Patria has signed a memorandum with Ukrainian drone maker General Cherry to cooperate and begin producing the company's drones in Finland after signing during President Alexander Stubb’s visit to Kyiv.
Patria has begun cooperating with Ukrainian drone maker General Cherry and plans to start producing the drones in Finland. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding during President Alexander Stubb's visit to Kyiv. The signing was part of a delegation of seven Finnish firms, and the Presidential Office shared photos of the event.
The agreement is with Center of Unmanned Technologies LLC, known as General Cherry, which specialises in FPV strike drones, fiber-optic guided systems, air-defence counter drones and fixed-wing unmanned aircraft. Patria intends to combine General Cherry's small-drone expertise with its own unmanned systems and defence-industry know-how to co-develop systems for Western European defence needs. The company employs more than 1,100 people in Pirkanmaa.
It follows a Tampere summit in March that brought Finnish and Ukrainian defence firms together and highlights Tampere's growing role as a hub for defence and dual-use technology. Aamulehti reported.
