Pirkanmaa readers queue up for autumn's hottest new books
Pirkanmaa library reservation lists are filling up with autumn releases, led by Satu Rämö's new crime novel Disa, which has 2,754 holds.
Piki library reservation lists in Pirkanmaa are already dominated by autumn releases, with 2,754 holds for Satu Rämö's new crime novel Disa, Aamulehti says. Rämö also still leads reservations for her earlier novel Tinna, which has 1,556 holds.
Other adult titles drawing heavy demand include Maiju Kajannon's feel-good novel Glass Ball Winter with 947 holds. Both Kajannon's and Rämö's books are due in October. Tommi Kinnunen's September release The Long Clearing was the third most reserved adult novel last week. Critics have already tipped it as a possible Finlandia Prize contender. Nokia-born Johanna Valkama's historical The Spinner of the Golden Thread, published at the end of August and the first locally focused title on the list, ranked seventh.
In nonfiction, Tina Finn and Pate Mustajärvi's My Testament (July) is the region's second most reserved recent title, trailing only Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen's January release The Age of Selfishness. Children's books show the most eager pre-publication interest. Three yet-to-be-released translated kids' titles top the holds, including a new book by Venny Helén, Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid 21, and an upcoming Katie Kirby volume.
Rämö has topped Pirkanmaa reservation charts several times this year, including a June ranking and a mid‑September list.
