Pirkkala Church Village School has introduced a new elective for grades 4–6 called Se on moro!, according to Tamperelainen.

Designed by primary teacher Kalle Erkkilä, the course mixes local pop culture with hands-on activities. Pupils will study Manse rock and artists such as Popeda, Eppu Normaali and Juice Leskinen. They will play and sing some of the songs themselves. Erkkilä plans to show ice hockey clips and Kummeli comedy sketches set in school life. The curriculum even includes reading a Donald Duck translated into Tampere dialect to highlight local speech patterns.

The initiative follows Tampere's decision to boost mother tongue lessons and signals a wider interest in strengthening local language and culture in schools.
