Scoreboard Malfunction Adds Confusion as JYP Beats Ilves U20 6–2 at Hakametsä

According to Ilves, JYP defeated Ilves U20 6–2 at Hakametsä on Saturday.

Ilves started strongly, opening the scoring in the first period when Jalmari Melanen redirected a play into the net at 14:10, assisted by Max Poikela and Roni Kuukasjärvi. The home side survived multiple penalty kills early on, while Otto Hannikainen made several sharp saves for JYP as the game swung back and forth.

In the second period JYP clawed back. An equaliser at 28:41 was followed by Teemu Immonen's go-ahead strike at 30:41. Poikela answered to level the game again, but JYP grabbed a late second-period lead and carried a 3–2 advantage into the final frame.

In the third, JYP scored on a power play, then extended their lead amid confusion when Hakametsä's scoreboard malfunctioned. They sealed the win with an empty-net goal for the final 6–2. Melanen was named Ilves' best player after a 1+1 night and said, "Too many penalties and we let in too many goals again. The opponent gets to score cheaply on us."

The result continues a mixed start to Ilves' home form this season, coming after a 6–5 loss to Ässät and a shootout win over TPS.
