Suspect Identified After Early-Morning Fatal Crash on Pispalan Valtatie
A pedestrian died in a collision on Pispalan Valtatie in Tampere shortly after 3 a.m.; police say a suspect has been identified and investigations are ongoing.
Police received a report shortly after 3 AM and later found that a pedestrian had died in a collision on Pispalan Valtatie in Tampere, YLE reported.
The crash involved a passenger car. Heikki Järnström, crime commissioner at the Central Finland Police Department, said officers have identified a suspect, but authorities have not released any detailed information about the victim.
Witnesses were present at the scene, though investigators do not yet know whether any of them actually saw the collision.
"We will continue by questioning witnesses, and the technical investigation plays a very central role in this," Järnström told STT on Sunday. Police are treating the case as aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and negligent homicide. He said the technical work will certainly continue into Monday.
