Tampere Approves €2,950 Compensation for Wrist Fracture After Kyttälänkatu Slip
Tamperelainen reports the city approved €2,950 in compensation after a person slipped on ice on Kyttälänkatu on 21 December and suffered a broken wrist.
Tamperelainen reports that a fall on Kyttälänkatu on 21 December left a person with a broken wrist. The claimant had sought €7,200: €4,600 for pain and suffering and €2,600 for cosmetic harm, but the city approved €2,000 for pain and suffering and €950 for cosmetic harm, a total of €2,950. The fall happened just after a crosswalk at the start of the sidewalk; the injured person said a thick layer of ice and a lack of grit caused the accident. The contractor, Tampereen Infra Oy, had last cleared the spot on 19 December. A city review found anti-slip measures were not sufficient, given the fluctuating weather. At the time of the accident the sky was clear and the temperature was about −14 °C. The previous day the mercury had varied between roughly −3 °C and −7.5 °C. The decision follows recommendations from the Personal Injury Affairs Negotiation Board and is based on the Tort Liability Act.
