The City of Tampere says Tampere City Hall will open a new customer service lobby and a public café-restaurant at the start of June as municipal services move into the building. Services will transfer into City Hall at Aleksis Kivi Street 14–16 in stages over the spring and summer.

On moving day, 29 May, the Frenckell customer service point will be closed to walk-in visitors, though phone and electronic services will continue. YLE adds that phone services, including Nyssen phone customer service, will remain in place and that the city is planning to keep opening hours and services unchanged after the move.

According to the City of Tampere, Nysse customer service will reopen on Monday 1 June 2026 at City Hall, via the B entrance at Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16 B. The move is described as an address change only, with opening hours and services—including phone support—remaining the same.

The city adds that the municipal service point will relocate to the same address on 1 June, with the service point reopening then as well. YLE also reports that City Hall’s first-floor public services — including the city service point, the registrar, Nyssen customer service and cashier services — open on 1 June, and that the city council will meet again in the council chamber on 8 June.

The new premises are more modern and accessible: they include free public computers for accessing city services, a queue number system that lets people wait outside the lobby, and space for appointment-based meetings.

Administrative manager Riikka Kimpanpää says the design keeps walk-in customers in mind even as online options expand: "Although more people use electronic services and digital services are actively developed, walk-in customers have not been forgotten." YLE adds that Kimpanpää emphasises the goal of making the spaces welcoming and easy to use.

YLE further notes that the renovation began in spring 2023 and was completed at the end of November 2025.

The first floor will house the publicly open Viistokatu café-restaurant, run by Compass Group, and it has a terrace. The name Viistokatu nods to a former walkway across Tampere’s Central Square that some on social media say they missed. Compass Group used a customer taste survey to shape lunches intended to be tasty, healthy and varied. Café hours are Monday–Friday 7:30–16:30 and Saturday 10:00–15:00, with restaurant lunch served Monday–Friday 10:30–13:30. Visitors enter the customer service lobby directly through Door B. The Tampere service point and Nysse customer service will also be located in the new facilities.
