Tampere cuts Santalahti event permit to €40 a day to attract organisers
Tampere will charge a reduced landowner permit fee of €40 plus VAT per day for events at Santalahti waterfront park from 1 May to 30 September 2027. The cut is meant to encourage organisers to use the site while other venues undergo work.
The temporary price cut is intended to steer events to Santalahti while other Tampere venues face construction and renovations in the coming years. Anna-Kaisa Heinämäki, head of Tampere's Attraction and Advocacy team, said strengthening events, experiences and attractiveness are central goals in Tampere's strategy and that Santalahti has a lot of potential.
One booking can run for up to 12 days. The reduced fee, €40 plus VAT per day, applies to any event that meets the municipality's general area-use conditions.
Organisers still cover other costs such as electricity and water, additional permits and authority fees, traffic arrangements, waste management, cleaning and site restoration. Officials will collect feedback during the summer to learn which kinds of events suit Santalahti and to guide future development.
Applications are submitted via an online form. Availability questions can be sent to general areas customer service by email, or by phone on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 14:30.
