Tampereen Työväen Teatteri marks Veikko Sinisalo’s 100th birthday with free tribute evening
Tampereen Työväen Teatteri will hold a free evening in its cellar on 2 October to mark what would have been actor Veikko Sinisalo’s 100th birthday as part of the theatre’s 125th anniversary programme.
On 2 October an evening in the theatre's cellar will mark what would have been Veikko Sinisalo’s 100th birthday, Tamperelainen reports. The free event is part of the theatre’s 125th anniversary programme. It unveiled its anniversary season, including new premieres and public events, earlier this month when it announced its 125th season, and kicked off celebrations with previews and speeches on 24 September at a September 24 kickoff.
Sinisalo’s interpretations of songs and poems will be interspersed with memories from friends, colleagues and the audience. His daughter, Kirsi-Kaisa Sinisalo, compiled the programme and will lead the evening. Scheduled speakers and performers include actor Ahti Jokinen; professors emerita Pirkko Koski and Malla Kuuranne, the latter known for recitation; politician Antti Rinne; and actress Tiina Weckström. Sinisalo was closely associated with Tampereen Työväen Teatteri from the 1950s. The evening will honour his long career. Admission is free.
