Topi Sukari seeks 25-storey hotel-residence and indoor 'ski world' at Ideapark
Topi Sukari says plans for a 25-storey hotel-residence and an indoor “ski world” beneath Ideapark in Lempäälä are advancing and could gain the necessary zoning approval next year.
Toivo 'Topi' Sukari told Kauppalehti's Talousaamu that the long-planned hotel and residential tower and an indoor ski world at Lempäälä's Ideapark are advancing and could win the necessary zoning approval next year, Tamperelainen reported.
The project has been discussed for years. Last year Ideapark board chair Tuomas Henttula said a zoning change would be required to build all 25 floors, and negotiations with potential operators have progressed well. Adding every floor at once still hinges on that plan change.
Sukari described the issue as largely a zoning question and thanked the municipality and the ELY Centre for taking the case seriously. He expects the details to be settled during the coming year so construction can begin. He even joked he might move into the upper floors for his retirement, and that if the building is accessible he could use a rollator there at ninety.
Plans also include a 'ski world' carved into the caverns beneath Ideapark, with designers planning to paint reindeer and Lapland landscapes to evoke an indoor winter environment.
