Tredu students claim gold across music, visual arts and video at SAKUstars

Tredu says its students won multiple awards at the national SAKUstars cultural competitions in Tampere on 14–16 April 2026. The three-day event brought together hundreds of vocational students from across Finland to compete and perform in a wide range of cultural disciplines.

Tredu students took top spots in music, visual arts, video and craft categories. Gold winners included Miska Murtola (rap music), Elviira Lähdetluoma (poster design) and HC Ränni (Pipa badge category). Silver and bronze placings went to Alvar Silen (Photography in a Day and poetry), the video team of Max Friimäki, Nelliina Nyman and Janne Vitikka, Milja Koskimaa (computer graphics) and Reeka Rintamäki (solo dance). Several students received honorable mentions in drawing and model-drawing.

Tredu organised the event and ran much of the competition as part of students’ regular studies. Teachers and students from different fields handled practical tasks on site, and vocational skills demonstrations took place during the competitions.

Media students handled much of the production, giving many participants a chance to complete real work as part of their qualifications.

Minister of Science and Culture Mari-Leena Talvitie opened the event and emphasised the SAKU spirit of encouragement and community. "At the cultural event people saw and were seen, heard and were heard. Participants valued each other's courage, willingness to throw themselves into performances, and expression," Tredu director Kirsi Viskari said.

Organisers congratulated all competitors and thanked the staff and students who supported the event. Full results from SAKUstars 2026 are published on the SAKUstars website.
