Tredu to lease DA42 to Suomen Ilmailuopisto for hands-on maintenance training
Tredu will lease its Diamond DA42 to Suomen Ilmailuopisto for inspection and training flights from 9 June 2026 to 28 February 2027 to support hands-on maintenance training for students.
Tredu is leasing its Diamond DA42 aircraft to Suomen Ilmailuopisto for inspection and training flights from 9 June 2026 to 28 February 2027. Tamperelainen reports the temporary rental will support hands-on maintenance training for Tredu students.
The agreement is expected to bring Tredu about €75,000 in rental income, which will be used to cover the aircraft’s upkeep and maintenance; the hourly rental price was not disclosed. Suomen Ilmailuopisto plans to fly the aircraft roughly 200 hours per year and will cover operational costs such as fuel, refuelling and parking fees, oils, de-icing chemicals and navigation and landing charges. Tredu says the lease ensures the plane accumulates the flight hours needed for scheduled inspections and overhauls so students gain real maintenance tasks, and the school aims to establish a Part-145 and Part-CAMO compliant aircraft maintenance learning environment by the end of the year. Tredu bought the DA42 in 2022 and has previously leased the same type to operators such as Kurikka Flight.
