Turku mayor to spotlight growth at MIPIM 2026 in Cannes
Turku mayor Piia Elo will attend MIPIM 2026 in Cannes March 10–12 to participate in roundtables and meetings with city leaders, real estate investors, and international media to explore investment and partnership opportunities for Turku's growth.
Turun teknologi- ja tiedepisto Oy announced that Turku mayor Piia Elo will attend MIPIM 2026 in Cannes, France, March 10–12, to participate in roundtable discussions and meetings with city leaders, real estate investors, and international media, with the aim of identifying new investment and partnership opportunities to support Turku's growth.
The press release notes that MIPIM is the world’s largest real estate event, bringing together city leaders, developers, and more than 5,000 real estate investors from roughly 90 countries. It adds that investors’ assets under management exceeded €4 trillion last year.
Elo says it is important for Turku to participate in international dialogue to advance the city’s smart, sustainable growth. “Turku’s growth has been rapid in recent years. To support this growth we need investments that strengthen the city’s vitality, promote sustainable urban development, and improve residents’ everyday lives. In a time when many European cities face rising challenges, Turku stands out with its ambition and commitment to building a city that is internationally competitive and a genuinely good place to live,” Elo states.
The release explains that Turku participates on a joint Helsinki FINLAND stand, opening on March 10 with opening remarks from Piia Elo and other officials, including Helsinki and Tampere deputy mayors Johanna Laisaaren and Ilkka Porttikiven, Oulu project lead Karri Oikarinen, and Porvoo city development director Dan Mollgren. On March 11 a session titled “Shaping Urban Growth in Finland: Flagship Districts in Tampere, Turku and Oulu” will feature Chief Vitality Officer Vesa Palander presenting Turku’s key development projects. The delegation also includes city hall chief of staff Tuomas Heikkinen, head of real estate development Petri Liski, and Turku Science Park Oy’s communications director Marjo Mäkipää.
