Aliisa Salminen begins this autumn as Aamulehti's university correspondent in Tampere. A recent Tampere University graduate after six years on campus, she says student life is about far more than parties; it includes organisations, research, first jobs, financial strain, loneliness and the ambition to build a meaningful future.
Her reporting will track decisions that affect students and spotlight the people, initiatives and everyday moments that give young people reasons to hope.
The appointment follows a recent Aamulehti series profiling students' homes and everyday lives a student home video series, and comes as Tampere was named Finland's most recommended city for people under 30 in a nationwide Taloustutkimus survey.
