Asla Jo’s new single “Baby Gay”, released 4 September via Kaiku Entertainment, gained attention after festival performances and will be featured on her autumn tour, including a Tampere show at G Livelab on 19 November.

The single, released on 4 September via Kaiku Entertainment, had already drawn strong attention after being performed at summer festivals.

The song continues Asla Jo’s intimate indie-pop style. It features personal lyrics, emotional delivery and a melodic pop sensibility. Jo says "Baby Gay" is the first single from a second album she has begun writing and composing. The recording was produced by bndries and Cecil Opia.

Jo describes the song as confronting compulsive heterosexuality and homophobia while tracing a lifelong process of self-discovery. "I hope this brings comfort and a sense of belonging to rainbow people of all ages, and understanding and resonance to all lovers of music and storytelling," she said.

She will perform the single on her autumn tour, which includes stops in Vantaa (Martinus, 4 Sept), Vaasa (Ritz, 18 Sept), Turku (Teatro/Logomo, 24 Oct), Helsinki (Korjaamo, 14 Nov; G Livelab/Silmien takana, 18 Dec), Tampere (G Livelab, 19 Nov) and Espoo (Kannusali, 5 Dec). The single is out on streaming platforms and will be featured in the live shows.
