Maija Vilkkumaa releases 'Esikoinen' ahead of 'Karaoke-queen', plays Tavara-asema on 12 November
Maija Vilkkumaa released 'Esikoinen' on 4 September 2026 as the third single from her ninth album 'Karaoke-queen', and will perform at Tavara-asema in Tampere on 12 November.
According to ePressi, on 4 September 2026 Maija Vilkkumaa released 'Esikoinen', the third single from her ninth studio album, 'Karaoke-queen', which is due in Finland on 2 October 2026.
The song grew out of her experience as the eldest child. "I am the eldest child in my family. Many firstborns feel they carry a burden in life; firstborns are overachievers, anxious, and pretend to be brave. I wanted to write a song about this collective feeling," she said.
She describes 'Karaoke-queen' as a theme album about rage, adding that the record opened up to her like a film. Vilkkumaa wrote the songs over the course of a year and spent another year on production. She is also working on a companion thriller-format piece with the same name, in which five women meet in a karaoke bar and decide to take revenge for the wrongs they have suffered.
To support the release she will tour in the autumn. The run begins on 2 October aboard the ferry Viking Grace on the Turku to Stockholm route. It visits venues across Finland, from Helsinki to Oulu and Turku, with a Tampere stop at Tavara-asema on 12 November.
Details on the single and tour are available on her official channels.
