Classic Mercedes-Benz Cars Take Center Stage at Finnish Summer Events

Mercedes-Benz Media announced that it is highlighting a series of historic milestones and upcoming events in Finland, including the 74th anniversary of the 300 SL's debut and two major summer gatherings that showcase the brand's heritage and continuity.

The release notes that the 300 SL premiered to media on March 12, 1950; production began in 1954. Its iconic gullwing doors were born from the need to reinforce a rigid frame, not from styling whim.

Mercedes-Benz Club's major gathering takes place 5-7 June at Himoksella, Jämsä; the open event invites fans of classic and new MB models, with more than 100 vehicles expected and public access to Himos Park on Saturday.

Mercedes-Benz is co-hosting the FIVA World Event 2026 in Tampere from July 27-30, bringing about 100 vintage cars spanning up to 120 years; the oldest entrant is a 1911 Brasier driven by Wolfgang Krämer, and 22 of the pre-registered teams are Mercedes-Benz. The event routes pass through Tampere city center and surrounding lakes such as Pyhäjärvi and Längelmävesi; SAHK and Tampereen Seudun Mobilistit ry organize it.

Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart set a new attendance record in 2025 with 945,716 visitors, up about 7% from 2024; the international share reached 55%. The Youngtimer-themed exhibit was especially popular, and the museum, opened in 2006, has hosted more than 14 million visitors. This year also marks multiple anniversaries, including 20 years for the museum, 100 years for Mercedes-Benz, 130 years for commercial vehicles, and 140 years for the modern car.

Mercedes-Benz notes that it remains the largest engine supplier in the current Formula 1 season, powering the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team and additional outfits such as McLaren, Alpine, and Williams. The company stresses that performance depends not only on the power unit but also on aerodynamics, strategy, and driver skill.
