Mercedes-Benz Highlights 300 SL Anniversary, Tampere FIVA Event, F1 Role

Mercedes-Benz Media announced that the company is highlighting its heritage and upcoming activities in Finland, including the 74th anniversary of the 300 SL, the Mercedes-Benz Klub Himoksen grand gathering in early June, and the FIVA World Event 2026 in Tampere, with Mercedes-Benz's ongoing status as the largest engine supplier in Formula 1.

The release notes that March 12 marks 74 years since the first public introduction of the 300 SL in 1954, when gull-wing doors were developed to address structural stiffness. It details the Himoksen grand gathering to be held June 5–7 in Jämsä at Himos Park, expecting more than 100 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and notes that the Finnish Mercedes-Benz Club, founded in 1979, has about 4,200 members.

The press release also outlines the FIVA World Event 2026 in Tampere from July 27–30, described as a two-lake tour around Lake Pyhäjärvi and Lake Längelmävesi with around 100 classic cars from Finland and abroad; about 22 of them are Mercedes-Benz, and the oldest participant is a 1911 Brasier, with a 1938 Mercedes-Benz 170V among the line-up. It also highlights a record 2025 attendance at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, with 945,716 visitors and 55 percent international guests, and confirms Mercedes-Benz’s role as the largest power-unit supplier in this season’s Formula 1, supplying engines to Mercedes AMG Petronas, McLaren, Alpine, and Williams, while stressing that aerodynamics, strategy, and driver performance remain crucial to success.
