Classic began the women’s floorball league semi-finals with a 4–2 home win over SB-Pro, edging ahead with Suvi Hämäläinen scoring twice. The series continues on Sunday, with further matches in Nurmijärvi and Lempäälä.

Classic started the women’s floorball league semi-finals with a 4–2 home win over SB-Pro, taking an early lead toward the final. Aamulehti reports. Suvi Hämäläinen scored two goals in the opening match on Friday as Tampere’s team tightened its grip on the tie with stronger finishing in the final period.

The paper describes how the game was far from the kind of goal haul Veera Vilenius had hoped for early on. Classic’s scoring began in the 12th minute with Lotta Purhonen, but the teams were level 1–1 at the first break after Annika Toivanen hit for Classic with 16 minutes played. In the second period SB-Pro blocked shots and goalkeeper Emmi Pölönen made key saves, leaving the score tied 1–1 after 40 minutes.

Only 54 seconds into the third period, Vilja Kuutniemi set up Hämäläinen, who beat Pölönen to make it 2–1. Four minutes later the same combination pushed Classic to 3–1, and Elli Kylmäluoma soon added her first playoff goal. SB-Pro narrowed the gap before the middle of the final period, but Classic kept control and suffocated SB-Pro’s late surge. The semi-final series continues on Sunday in Nurmijärvi, with Classic needing three wins to reach the final. The third match is scheduled for Monday in Lempäälä, while another semi-final features Turun Palloseura against EräViikingit.
