According to the City of Tampere, Disabled Pride will open the city’s June human-rights programme on 6 June 2026, highlighting invisible disabilities with an accessible march, speeches and a disco.

According to the City of Tampere, on Saturday 6 June 2026 Tampere will host a Disabled Pride event to open the city’s June human-rights programme and draw attention to invisible disabilities and disability-related illnesses.

The march sets off at 13:00 from the Keskustori fountain and follows an accessible route along Hämeenkatu to Hämeenpuisto. It then continues to Kumppanuustalo Artteli on Mustanlahdenkatu. At Artteli, representatives of various disability groups will speak. Speeches will be interpreted into sign language, and the programme finishes with a disco. City representatives will hand out colourful Kaikkien Tampere balloons before the procession.

Katja Metsävainio, chair of Tampere’s disability advisory board, says disability takes many forms and that not all conditions that limit daily life are visible. Jaakko Laurila, programme manager for the Kaikkien Tampere development programme, says the city wants everyone to feel safe and accepted as they are. The event is organised by Amnesty International’s Tampere volunteers and welcomes disabled people, their supporters and anyone who wants to show support for human rights and equality.
