Elderly passenger refunded after wrong-zone ticket fine on Tampere bus
An elderly passenger who validated a stored-value ticket for the wrong zones on a Nysse bus had her inspection fine canceled and the paid fee refunded after she appealed, officials say.
On August 5, an elderly, ill woman practising the journey from Nokia to Tampere on a Nysse bus had her inspection fee canceled and the paid fine refunded after she appealed, Tamperelainen reports.
City records show she and her daughter tried to select an A–C zone trip with the driver's help, but the process was slow because the woman's age and illness made confirmation difficult. A ticket inspector found a stored-value ticket validated for the wrong zones and issued a fine. Officials later canceled the fine under a law that allows waivers when fare mistakes stem from a passenger's age or health.
