A local farmer bought the long-empty Ylinen rehabilitation centre in Ylöjärvi in April 2025 and is now clearing, securing and renovating the lakeside complex after ten years of abandonment, according to YLE. It had once housed hundreds of people with intellectual disabilities before services moved to Nokia Pitkäniemi, and the Pirkanmaa welfare area struggled for years to sell the property.

Buyer Suvi Rajala paid about €400,000. Over the past year she has removed debris, restored electricity to some buildings and prepared space for companies and cultural tenants. She says the work is complex, "this will not be an easy or simple project", and expects most of the roughly twenty buildings on site to be demolished, a job estimated to cost €1.5 to €2 million.

Rajala has increased security, cleared salvageable items and opened parts of the estate to film crews and small cultural producers. A stage now stands in the manor yard, the lakeside sauna was repaired last summer, and she hopes cafés, a hobby theatre group and eventually new apartment blocks will find a place there once city zoning talks move forward. The site is marked in the master plan for services and housing and sits in an area considered of landscape and cultural-historical value on the Näsijärvi shore.
