Fire at Tampere’s Luminary building on Itsenäisyydenkatu; no injuries reported.

Aamulehti reports that a fire broke out on the balcony of an apartment in the Luminary building on Itsenäisyydenkatu in Tampere early Friday morning, with no injuries. The Luminary building is Tampere’s tallest apartment block, standing at 21 floors.

According to the Pirkanmaa Fire Department, sprinklers put out the blaze, but rescuers verified extinguishment, ventilated the apartment and removed extinguishing water from the scene. The incident is under investigation for its cause. The alarm came in around 3 a.m. Friday, and six fire units were dispatched to the scene.

According to Tamperelainen, the blaze began at Itsenäisyydenkatu 3 in Tampere, in the Luminary tower, with the alarm raised at 03:00.
