Hämeenkyrö board backs Konikallio wind park plan
Yle reports Hämeenkyrö's municipal board recommended the Konikallio wind park partial master plan to the municipal council in a narrow 5–4 vote, moving the project one step closer to approval.
According to Yle, the Konikallio wind park proposal moved closer to approval after Hämeenkyrö's municipal board recommended the project's partial master plan to the municipal council. The vote was narrow: 5–4.
Rauno Mäki (Finns Party) said the project would harm the area's landscape, cultural and historical values and nature. He also raised concerns about the site's proximity to a groundwater area and what he called an insufficient risk analysis.
The proposed site lies southwest of Vatulanharju–Ulvaanharju on the Hämeenkyrö–Ikaalinen border. Plans call for 15 turbines, seven of them on the Ikaalinen side.
Ikaalinen has already withdrawn from the planning process, citing similar landscape, cultural and groundwater concerns. Hämeenkyrö municipal manager Johanna Rannanjärvi said that does not prevent the project from proceeding on Hämeenkyrö's territory. The board's recommendation now goes to the municipal council for final consideration.
