Hämeenkyrö Ends Municipal Family Day Care Despite Committee Opposition

YLE reports that Hämeenkyrö will end its municipal family day care next summer, despite the education committee's opposing stance. The town council used its veto to push the closure, aiming to save about 135,000 euros per year.
The plan would see the municipal family day care cease on August 1, with three family day care workers moving to municipal day care centers and the affected children reassigned to day care groups. The decision cites tight finances and a shrinking number of children, noting that Hämeenkyrö’s births have fallen from around 140 in ten years to under 100, with just 63 births last year.
