Heavy Saturday Rain Could Disrupt Tammerfest Headliner Eppu Normaali in Tampere
Heavy rain is forecast to begin around midday Saturday in Tampere, threatening stormwater flooding and possibly disrupting Tammerfest's Saturday headliner Eppu Normaali.
Tamperelainen reports that heavy rain is forecast to begin around midday Saturday in Tampere and could continue into Sunday, raising concerns about stormwater flooding and possible disruption to Tammerfest. The weekend's schedule includes Eppu Normaali headlining on Saturday as part of the festival's opening weekend.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute is weighing warnings for daily precipitation totals but does not currently expect Tampere to reach the official warning threshold for the weekend. Jaakko Savela, the institute's on-duty meteorologist, estimated roughly 30 millimetres could fall over a 24-hour period and declined to speculate on whether Eppu Normaali's final Tammerfest performance will go ahead.
Showers are forecast to start around midday Saturday. There is a risk of intense thunderstorms and lightning depending on cloud cover, then the rain should become steadier in the evening. Rain is expected to taper by Sunday afternoon. Drier weather will return and temperatures are expected to fall to about 15 degrees Celsius.
