Henman's power-play lifts Ilves to Liiga summit
Henman’s power-play goal lifted Ilves to a 3–2 win over Jukurit, moving the team to the top of the Liiga table after eight games.
Trailing 1–2 early in the third, Ilves turned the game around with goals from Lukáš Jašek and Austin Strand. Henman then sealed the win with a power-play strike at 49:55 after intercepting a Jukurit clearance, the puck clipping in off the crossbar.
Jašek had opened the scoring late in the first, his third Liiga goal of the season. Henman's finish pushed him up the league scoring ranks.
Goalkeeper Mantas Armalis made 23 saves while Jukurit’s Jesper Myrenberg stopped 17. The crowd was 5,527. After eight games, Ilves recorded their seventh victory and moved level on 20 points with Jukurit, but climbed above them on goal difference. Ilves return to Nokia Arena on Saturday to host K‑Espoo at 17:00.
The win continues Ilves’ strong early-season form, following their fifth straight victory over TPS earlier in the month and Jašek’s recent overtime heroics in Oulu further underlining their hot start earlier this month.
