Hiedanranta to Glow from November 6 with Façade Lighting and Three New Light Artworks
Seasonal lighting in Hiedanranta will illuminate façades, walking routes and public spaces from 6 November, including new light artworks and first-time illumination of Lielahti Manor.
According to the City of Tampere, seasonal lighting in Hiedanranta will brighten the neighbourhood from 6 November, with façade illumination, coloured lights and lamp chains along walking routes and squares.
Mikko Leinonen, CEO of Hiedanrannan Kehitys Oy, said the installations are designed to highlight the Factory's red-brick buildings, chimney and murals and to encourage residents and visitors to use lit routes after dark. Lielahti Manor will be illuminated for the first time, with the manor building and nearby park areas lit to enhance evening walks along Näsijärvi's shoreline.
The city is also adding three light artworks that reuse familiar downtown motifs: a hedgehog pattern on an Event Park light pole, fox figures on the pulp mill's steam-accumulator pedestal, and bird, owl and forest motifs visible from trams on Näsisaari. Creative Technology Finland Oy planned and executed the lighting for the Factory and Lielahti Manor, while Tampereen Vera Oy installed the city's light motifs. The installations will remain in place until the end of January 2027.
The new display builds on the city's wider autumn light programme and follows the draft masterplan for Hiedanranta centre; it also ties into this autumn's Festival of Lights in Tampere.
