A terrace on a four-apartment row house on Kirjosiepontie in Ylöjärvi's Kangasniemi caught fire around 12:30 PM on Saturday, Tamperelainen reported.
Investigators believe the blaze started when hot ashes were left in a plastic ash bucket.
A passerby alerted emergency services, and crews contained the fire before it spread beyond a small scorch on the exterior wall, the Pirkanmaa rescue department said. Fire Chief Aku Pietilä said no residents were home and there were no human injuries; two dogs were inside.
Crews finished extinguishing the fire, and the last unit left about half an hour after the first notification. Tamperelainen updated its report on 7 November 2026 with additional details from a rescue department press release.
It follows other recent small blazes in the region caused by discarded ashes, including an August field fire ignited by ashes and a small row-house exterior blaze in Kaukajärvi that also caused only minor damage.
