Human error links patient names in Pirkanmaa mammography records, fewer than 10 affected
Pirha says a data mix-up in mammography screening linked a small number of patients' identity codes to other patients' names, affecting fewer than ten people.
Pirkanmaa wellbeing services (Pirha) said a data protection incident in its mammography screening linked a small number of patients' personal identity codes with other patients' names, affecting fewer than ten people, according to YLE. Pirha said human error caused the mix-up and that the affected records were transferred to the new service provider Terveystalo, which runs mammography screenings in parts of Pirkanmaa. Some patients may have seen another person's name on a screening invitation or in the appointment booking system if they changed their appointment. No identity codes, contact details or medical records were visible. Those affected have been contacted. The incident follows the authority's March firing of an oncology specialist over a previous privacy breach.
