Juha Mäkinen named CEO of Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne, starts 1 August 2026

Juha Mäkinen will take over as CEO of Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne Oy on 1 August 2026, the City of Tampere said.

Current CEO Kai Honkanen will remain in post until Mäkinen starts and will oversee the handover. Honkanen led the company through its first operational phase after the municipal transport enterprise became a limited company on 1 January 2025.

Mäkinen, a native of Lempäälä, joins from WSP Finland Oy where he served as regional director. He brings more than a decade of management experience and has led multidisciplinary transport projects, including work on the Tampere tramway and the Plusbus project.

Tampereen Kaupunkiliikenne now produces roughly one third of Nyssen's bus services, employs about 300 people and operates as a wholly owned in-house company of the City of Tampere.
