Koiviston Auto Tampere wins €91.1m contract to run Tampere’s Plusbus line 7
Koiviston Auto Tampere won the tender to operate Tampere's Plusbus line 7 under a roughly 12-year contract worth €91.1m (including option years); Nyssen expects about 19 electric articulated buses will be needed for weekday winter peak services.
Nyssen announced that Koiviston Auto Tampere Oy won the tender to operate Plusbus line 7 in Tampere. The roughly 12-year contract starts on 7 August 2028, includes three one-year extension options and cannot be signed until it becomes legally binding, which will be at least 14 days after the decision was announced.
All bidders met the suitability criteria and minimum procurement requirements. The tender was evaluated on overall economic advantage, with price weighted at 75 points and quality at 25. Quality was assessed before prices were revealed and covered drivers' and staff competence, passenger safety, timetable punctuality, incident management and vehicle maintenance.
Koiviston Auto Tampere submitted the most favourable overall offer. The procurement's total value over the contract period, including option years, is €91.1 million excluding VAT, making it Nyssen's largest bus contract to date. Nyssen expects the route to require 19 electric articulated buses for weekday winter peak services, plus reserve vehicles to cover breakdowns and scheduled maintenance.
The decision follows an earlier procurement notice that sought about 19 electric articulated buses for Plusbus line 7 and the public transport committee's opening of the tender in May earlier this year.
