Kangasala housing company Kuohunlähde has returned to court seeking more than €130,000 over monthly parking fees after a prior ruling rejected the city's larger claim on 74 spaces.

Kangasalan housing company Kuohunlähde has taken the city back to court, demanding more than €130,000 over the price of parking spaces in a central multi-storey car park. The case follows a Pirkanmaa district court ruling at the end of 2024 that rejected an earlier claim by the city-owned parking firm Kangasalan Parkki for payment on 74 spaces — roughly €31,000 per space, about €2.3 million in total. YLE reported on the renewed action.

Negotiations since that ruling have failed. Kuohunlähde says the city still wants a financing charge included in monthly parking fees, a condition the housing company rejects on the grounds that it owes no debt to the parking company. Chairman Jussi Muranen says the city's suggested monthly price is about €100, while residents consider €40–50 fair, and the disagreement has prevented them from signing monthly parking contracts for years.

City manager Oskari Auvinen counters that the ruling did not remove Kuohunlähde’s obligation to pay a fair price for taxpayer-funded parking, arguing municipalities do not hand over structural parking spaces for free. He expects the parties will eventually reach an agreement. No new hearing date at the Pirkanmaa district court has been set.
