Kauppi Sports Center has opened a new restaurant inside the Hakametsä ice rink and will start serving weekday breakfasts from Monday, in addition to a lunch buffet, Tamperelainen reports.
The Hakametsä outlet is run by Sporty World Oy, which also operates the Kauppi Sports Center café. The rink currently offers a weekday lunch buffet and a selection of sweet and savory pastries. Breakfast will be available on weekdays from 8 to 10.
CEO Sami Joru said early-morning skaters, site workers and nearby exercisers should provide a steady customer base, and that the menu will focus on nutritious, varied portions with plenty of protein, good carbohydrates and a large fresh salad bar to suit both hard-working laborers and goal-focused athletes. He said the move was motivated by the wider Hakametsä Sport Campus plans, a mixed-use development that will bring indoor activity parks, a climbing center, hotel and work spaces, restaurants, a 24/7 shop, an upper secondary school, indoor ball arenas and new housing.
The development follows earlier zoning approval and tenant announcements for the Hakametsä Sport Campus. Sporty World says further expansion is possible if suitable locations and demand arise.
