Hiedanranta switched on its seasonal lighting on 6 November, featuring the first-ever illumination of Lielahden Manor, Tamperelainen reported.
The scheme uses façade lights, coloured lighting and strings of lamps to brighten walkways and courtyards for residents, Christmas visitors and tram passengers during the dark months. Juha Kaivonen, head of project development for the Hiedanranta development programme at the City of Tampere, said the manor's culturally significant setting will come into its own after dark thanks to the lighting. It's the first time the manor has been lit. He said the neighbourhood's growth is becoming tangible as the first residents arrive.
As part of the city's Light Weeks, three light artworks featuring nature and animal motifs familiar from the city centre will be installed. Commuters near the Tehtaan tram stop and on Näsisaari can expect hedgehog, fox and bird patterns. The seasonal lighting will remain in place until the end of January 2027.
