Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva is recruiting five experts to join the selection committee for the 2028 Taidevaltakunta exhibition in Lahti; applications are open from 18 to 31 May 2026.
The 2028 exhibition will centre on the theme Ihana elämä — "Wonderful Life" — and organisers want a broad range of perspectives when choosing works. They are not looking for visual arts specialists this time; expertise can come from an applicant’s profession, hobbies or other life experience. Applicants should note any ties to Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme or Pirkanmaa.
Candidates must describe their area of expertise on the application form and be prepared to work in Finnish. Those chosen will independently review submissions from the open call for artists and works; assessments take place on the ArtCurator platform in August. The museum will provide training and account credentials.
The committee will meet in person at Malva on 2 September 2026 from 9:00 to 17:00, so applicants should be able to commit to that timetable. Selected experts will receive a fee of €200 and reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses.
Taidevaltakunta is a regional collaboration between Malva, Hämeenlinna Art Museum and Tampere Art Museum. The biennial rotates between provinces. Under the Taidevaltakunta name it debuted in Hämeenlinna in 2024; Tampere will host the exhibition from 13 June to 16 August 2026, and Lahti is scheduled for 2028.
