Metso marks 40th anniversary with 40-person book marathon
Metso will celebrate its 40th anniversary on 6 October with a public book marathon where 40 residents each recommend a book published in the last 40 years.
Tamperelainen reports that Metso, Tampere's main library, will mark its 40th anniversary with a public book marathon on 6 October. Forty residents will take to the library's stage, each recommending a title published within the last 40 years – one book per person.
Tuija Valli, a librarian with Tampere City Library, said Metso has been an important local resource and the event is intended to reflect the city's readers. Most speakers will be chosen through an open call that runs until 6 September, while a few well-known Tampereans will be invited directly.
Selected participants will be contacted in September. Appearances are free, and recommenders will receive a small gift. The marathon will be open to a live audience and streamed online, with a recording available afterwards.
