Midsummer bonfire reignites, sparks small wildfire in Nokia as residents douse flames

A smouldering Midsummer bonfire reignited on Saturday and caused a small wildfire on Kulonmaantie in Nokia. Strengthening winds fanned the embers, igniting nearby vegetation. Local residents managed to limit the flames and curb their spread before firefighters reached the scene. The rescue department was alerted at 13:06 and completed the operation by wetting the affected area to ensure the fire was fully out, Tamperelainen reports. The blaze comes amid a recent string of human-caused wildfires in Pirkanmaa and follows an April metal-drum bonfire that destroyed a farm in Urjala.
