Nea Lento steps away from athletics, cites burnout
Nea Lento, a 24-year-old representing Tampereen Pyrintö, says she is stepping away from competitive athletics because the sport 'exhausted' her and she needs a break.
In a social media post Nea Lento wrote: "The sport exhausted me." The 24-year-old, who represents Tampereen Pyrintö, said she is stepping away from competitive athletics. She needs a break. The post was reported by YLE.
Lento, a long jump and triple jump specialist, won two medals at the Finnish Athletics Championships (Kalevan kisat) in 2023 and 2025 and also claimed the national indoor pentathlon title. She thanked supporters — particularly her father, who has been her coach — and said physical and mental strain left her needing distance from competition. She reflected that failures and hard moments helped her grow but left open the possibility of a future return, signing off in English: "see you again (or not)."
